What a Stack Stove is
Stack Stoves are high-quality thermal storage stoves with a steel core and a ceramic outer, fuelled by wood, for space heating and cooking — and there is a boiler model. They are commonly called tile stoves. They are made entirely in Italy by La Castellamonte, who also make a traditional range of tile stoves for more traditional tastes.

The Round Stack
The Round Stack is, as the name suggests, a round stack of components built one on top of another, with a good few options to suit taste and heat output. There is a comprehensive colour scheme to choose from, in a shiny or a matt finish. The main differences between models are the base style and the height: there is a slim model, slightly smaller than the regular range; four base options; and a choice of two heights.
The taller of the two heights adds a further layer of ceramic, which adds a little thermal mass and makes the stove taller and more slender.

The two heights
The Round Stack also comes in a taller version, which allows a small amount of extra thermal mass to be added.

The tall Round Stack can also be fitted with additional thermal mass internally, which does not change its appearance — and turns the tile stove into a fully fledged masonry stove, capable of heating your home for up to 12 hours after the fire has gone out.
Sizes and outputs
- Size 1, all bases — 1.13m high by 0.63m wide (rim base; other bases are larger), 150mm chimney spigot, 230kg. 6.5kW, heating 100–230m³.
- Size 2, all bases — 1.37m high by 0.63m wide, 150mm spigot, 260kg. 7.5kW, heating 100–260m³.
- Size 2 with heat accumulation — 1.37m high by 0.63m wide, 150mm spigot, 410kg. 9kW, heating 260m³ for up to 12 hours.
- Slim, rim base — 1.13m high, 0.51m wide, 0.59m deep, 150mm spigot, 230kg. 6.5kW, heating 100–230m³.
The heating capacity is a range because it depends on the building: the upper figure is for a modern, well-insulated property, the lower for an older, poorly insulated one.
Every Stack Stove can be supplied with a direct-air kit, so combustion air is drawn from outside rather than through a vent in the room. And like every wood-fuelled appliance a Stack Stove needs a hearth; given the weight, a strong base is essential, and we recommend a reinforced structural hearth.
